365 dni netflix. 365 dni interview. 365 dni english subtitles. 365 dnia. 365 dni book in english translation. All the bad reviews are acting like this is real, it's not, it's a film. It's easy watching, sexy and something different. Pretty much all of us know we don't kidnap someone so they love us, but it's a film people! A few bits throughout needed a little attention, you can see what they are for yourself, the ending though frustrated the life out of me, no one else in Laura's car had a phone. really. Would definitely watch a sequel if there was one, they left it so there could be.

Sorry about the long time since the last chapter. To paraphrase a great man named Amos Burton, "I've had a lot of life in my life" here lately. I'd like to get back to writing this story, though. C. 11 Settling the Score From the Associated Press A cease fire has been called in what has been called the shortest modern armed conflict in history. Since last night, TW3III (spoken as tee doubleyew thirty three, short for the Two Week World War III, as trending on twitter) appears to have stopped after a military coup in Moscow. According to our sources, the Acting Marshall of the Russian Federation Innokentiy Losev sued for terms. Due to the potential for interstellar diplomatic consequences of the Russian Federation’s actions, a team of Pakarakis naval officers will be escorted by ETA Commodore Charles Reinhardt to Moscow aboard a dropship to discuss terms. Other members of the party include… *** Araknau sighed, or as close to the gesture a Pakarakis could perform. It was for much the same reason that most of the command team on this mission were acting. Wiles wasn’t present for the treaty talks, which was odd, but Reinhardt said he had other duties to attend to at present. “Does Russia have similar technology to the United States? ” “Well… The government doesn’t really control the technology you’re talking about. Technology related to nuclear physics tends to be controlled more directly by the government, but when you’re talking about quantum engineering, it’s more of a private venture these days. ” Reinhardt made an incomprehensible gesture with his hand, as if he was trying to think of a good way to put it. “Meaning…? ” “Anyone with money can just buy the technology from the manufacturer. It’s not a state secret. ” “Ah. ” Commander Araknau nodded. Vanaip nodded, and reached into his pocket, pulling out a prepaid smartphone. “This is proof of that, ma’am. ” “When did you get the time…” Reinhardt looked quizzically at the Master Chief. “You’ve got convenience stores on base. They were just sitting there in a kiosk, and the pocket money we were issued was more than enough. All I had to do was go to a language learning website and make sure I had the correct module, and download it. ” Araknau looked at Vanaip. “That is one mystery solved. ” She shook her head, looking at Reinhardt. “Is that as powerful as your phone? ” “Not really. It’s a cheap design that isn’t capable of much more than basic functions. You can make phone calls, browse the web, download a few applications—basic stuff. ” “Right. ” She sighed, as they broke the cloud barrier over central Russia. “Well, there’s Moscow. We should prepare for landing. ” *** Commodore Reinhardt left the shuttle first as a concession to his rank being higher than everyone else aboard. As soon as he stepped off the boarding ramp, the RFA honor guard saluted him. He came to attention, and saluted the honor guard, and then resumed his approach to Novo-Ogaryovo. As he came to the front door of the residence two army officers opened the door for him. His own armed guard in the form of two royal marines pressed into ETA Naval service short term and four Pakarakis naval infantry followed him into the estate. They entered the main salon, where Innokentiy Losev sat, his leg crossed on top of another. He was sipping from a cup of tea. “Please. Sit down. If your guards could fall back to the edges of the room? ” He motioned to the corners of the room, where two corners were taken up by an equivalent number of Russian Army guards. Commodore Reinhardt, Commander Araknau, and MC Vanaip nodded, and sat down on the ornate sofa opposite the chair Innokentiy sat in. “Marshall Losev. ” Commodore Reinhardt nodded. He pulled out his phone and started a recording program. “I hope you understand. ” He nodded, and pulled out his own phone from a breast pocket, and activated the screen. It showed it was already recording. “Fully understandable. ” He put his cup down. As he did this, it finally struck Reinhardt how old this man was. He had to be pushing 70. While he still had a head of hair, every strand in it was grey, including his eyebrows. Losev’s face was deeply lined, and he had the air of someone who’d never known anything but the military. “Please, call me Innokentiy. While these are formal talks, I do not see the need for strict formal adherence. I am not in the position of power here. ” “Fair enough. I trust you won’t hold it against me if I don’t offer the same courtesy, Innokentiy. ” Reinhardt’s eyes were hard. “That’s fair, Commodore. ” He sighed, as he motioned for one of his aides to come closer. He held what looked to be a fairly cheap lunch basket. He set it down on the table between the two groups. As the top was removed, the two Pakarakis startled the humans with a sharp intake of breath. “You see, this and associated documents were found in Pugin’s desk. The drawer did have a lock, but during the coup attempt, my immediate supervisor was killed. I suspect he was in the conspiracy around that device. ” Araknau motioned towards the basket, motioning. “May I, Marshal? ” “Yes Commander. You may, ” replied Losev. She picked the device up. [You see the design of these? ] she said to Vanaip. [It’s pretty distinctive. ] [Yes, Commander. Also, look at these three tubes right here. They don’t match our design philosophy. ] He pointed at three miniaturized tubes that were even smaller than the smallest Pakarakis design. [Definitely a different government. What’s your assessment? ] {It is an Ainuska transponder. } Vanaip jumped, and Araknau slowly turned her head to look at Losev. “You know how to speak the Ainusk language? ” “Not fluently. That was a phrase cobbled together from others in the documents that was with the device. ” Reinhardt placed a steadying hand on the Pakaraki Commander. “While I feel like my allies owe me some explanations, let’s put this to the side, shall we? I assume you have the documents put away someplace safe, and that we won’t find it without your help? ” Losev nodded. “You are correct, Commodore. ” “Then Innokentiy, what are your terms? ” “Three very simple requests. You know that Russia has a lot of nuclear warheads, even now. I do not want to see my country disarmed. We will notify NATO of their locations in the event of a treaty but I want them to remain Russian property for defense purposes. Two, I want NATO administration of peace until new elections can be brought to occur. These elections will be without interference from old Russian oligarchs or from outside from coalition attacks. Three, I want the option to be integrated into the Earth Treaty alliance after ten years. ” Losev sat back. “In return, you get copied documents related to the alien device, in addition to the device itself. ” “That will not happen. There needs to be a poison pill. ” Reinhardt said. “Basically, you get back to business as normal within a few years. No. ” “What do you propose, Commodore? ” Losev asked. “NATO Administration for the rest of the current Pugin presidency. The elections will be administered by UN forces directly. In addition, if you insist on the option to join the ETA after 10 years, then we’ll set goals. If you don’t attain those goals within your own political system, then coalition forces will compel your government to form a new and acceptable constitution. ” Marshal Losev sat silently for a few minutes. He pursed his lips and let out a breath. “I can’t say that will work either. Let’s meet halfway. I will give up some nuclear power. I will agree to the goals, but the only thing that is administered by outside parties will be the elections. Government control will be retained by the Russian Federation military until such time as a civilian government is elected in the elections organized by the UN. I do not like the concept of the potential of having a new constitution forced on my country. ” “That one is non-negotiable. The rest of the terms should be acceptable. I can have my staff draft the treaty, and submit it to my superiors, and we’ll see where it goes from there. ” “We’ll see. ” Losev said. He motioned towards the basket. “If you could please place the hardware back into the box? For the moment, we are still somewhat at war. This meeting will not show much more progress, I think. ” He quirked his eyebrow at the two Pakirakis. Araknau bit her lip, and placed the device back into the basket. The same aide from before came and took it away. “I look forward to hearing from coalition leadership, ” Losev said. *** Back aboard the Theranis, Reinhardt looked coolly at Commander Araknau. “So, what’s that about? ” “That device looks like it came from the Ainuskan Empire, ” She said. “Empire, as imperial expansionist? ” “Yes and no. They’ve never been… adverse to bringing other planets under their control, but the planets always seem to request ‘help’. They do it in such a way that it looks above the board, but there have always been rumors. ” Reinhardt sighed, as his shoulders slumped. “We’ll have to talk about this another time. ” He looked at the clock on the bulkhead. “It’s been a busy day and I’m beat. We’re not done yet. Once I’ve had a look at those documents, I think it’ll be time for a more in-depth discussion. ” First Chapter: Chapter 10: Chapter 12:.

The kindness of strangers imdb. Such a romantic song. The Kindness of strangest people. This was actually a very good mystery. First they ripped my arms off and threw them over there. Then they took my legs off and threw them over there.

Its been thirty years and Luke still hasnt picked up those power converters. The kindness of strangers trailer deutsch. The kindness of strangers cast.

Looks like a funny movie but it's not cool having two families actually. When one is happy, the other will always get hurt. Only cool part is when the kid went backwards off his bike. The rest: ZZZZZZ. This new Fast and Furious movie looks awesome. So this was what Todd was doing while he was holding Jesse prisoner. Fantastic Beasts.

Just like the others, if this account does not include the crossing on the eastern shores of the Sinai wilderness that starts out at Nuweiba, then it's not accurate. The land of Midian is not on the eastern shore of the sinai, it's on the western shore of Saudi Arabia. Midian is in Saudi Arabia. The mountain of God is likewise in Saudi Arabia. BEST video EVER. When I was young and naive I believed in an abundance of what is called mystical and fantastical nonsense. But, as I grew older and matured I began to think in a material way, a scientificly physical way, which is the nature of the human mind. As a result, my mind cleansed itself of all kinds fairytale whether historical or present. Released Feb 18, 2020 - Tickets on sale now Patterns of Evidence: The Red Sea NR 2h 30m Directed by: TBC Starring: TBC THE RED SEA MIRACLE It’s one of the greatest miracles in the Bible; Moses and the Israelites trapped at the sea by Pharaoh’s army when God miraculously parts the waters, rescuing the Israelites and destroying Pharaoh and his chariots. The Bible describes the crossing happening at a deep and mighty sea and that’s how legendary director Cecil B. DeMille depicted it in his epic, “The Ten Commandments. ” But today, many scholars are skeptical of spectacular miracles and claim that if the Exodus sea-parting happened at all, it must have been caused by naturalistic means, at a shallow lake in the north of Egypt’s Nile delta. Zombi child ending. I remember first seeing him in Lady Gagas Born This Way music video back in 2011 wow. Zombie children eating people video. Zombi child left. Well The trailer is very good for horror movie. Not going to lie “Brightburn” actually looks good. Zombi child showtimes. Writer/director/producer/composer Bertrand Bonello is best known on these shores for The Pornographer (2001), Tiresia (2003), House of Tolerance (2011) and Nocturama (2016) – films that often deploy a certain icy distance as an alienation effect, which stimulates viewers to fill his blank canvases with meaning. His remote characters can often seem like zombies – and for his latest, Zombi Child, he introduces the walking dead, both real and fictive, in twin storylines that follow real-life zombie Clairvius Narcisse (played by Mackenson Bijou) in 1960s Haiti, and his invented granddaughter Mélissa (Wislanda Louimat) and her lovesick schoolfriend, Fanny (Louise Labeque), in present-day Paris. From somewhere between these two disparate narratives there emerges a dialectic on the unresolved colonial history that still haunts France today. With the movie now available on MUBI UK ( read our review here), we sit down with Bonello to discuss the movie’s themes, streaming and whether he classes it as a horror film. In the UK, Zombi Child is being released by MUBI. From your perspective as a filmmaker, are streaming platforms something that you wholeheartedly embrace, or a necessary evil? It’s a complex question. I’m also the President of the Directors’ Guild in France, so we are always fighting for our rights, and stuff like that. We are aware that we have to work with platforms. The thing is, how can we work with them, how can we welcome them, how can we make a discussion? No it’s not an evil, it’s just a mutation that is here and, you know, people watch films differently. Even in France, which is a very huge country of cinephiles, things move, so we have to be with this movement. So, for example, everybody says “Netflix is evil”. It’s not evil – let’s just try to see how we can work with them. For me, it’s not a problem, not at all. Zombi Child starts in Haiti, 1962, with a mostly wordless account of the zombification of Clairvius Narcisse. Was his true story also your way into the story? Yes, the starting point was really this. It’s something that I discovered about 15 years ago while reading about Haiti – the story of Clairvius, and of Haitian zombies in general. I was not aware of that, I was very surprised. Like a lot of people, for me the zombie was a creation. And when I decided to go back to that [material], the starting point was this. Then I of course cannot make the film only about that. I cannot, as a white French guy, come to Haiti and say: ‘My film is about zombies and voodoo. ’ I have to find a point of view and a way to tell the story. That’s why, even though Clairvius is, I think, quite real, I invented the granddaughter who loses her parents and goes to France: to have a French point of view to tell the story, and two thirds of the film in fact takes place on France and only one third in Haiti. And even the Haitian images – when I saw the film for the first time – I said, ‘Maybe they’re real, maybe it’s the Haitians that Mélissa has in her mind from the stories she was told by her mother or grandmother of grandfather. ’ So finding the good point of view was a good distancing effect. The film’s regularly punctuated by Fanny’s infatuated love letters to her absent boyfriend, and Mélissa stays in touch with her aunt via phone. So long-distance relationships are a recurrent motif. Was that your way of instantiating the link between 1960s Haiti and modern-day France? In the way I wrote the film, I have two very different stories. In France, the sorrow of a young girl, and in Haiti, this story of Clairvius, which is quite simple. And when you put them together, what do the contrasts create? And after there are some contrasts, there are some links. You have the possession in voodoo, but you have the possession of love. You have the rituals in voodoo, and the girls have their rituals. You make links. When we first meet schoolgirls Fanny and Mélissa, they are in a lesson on the unconfronted failures of liberation and revolution in French history – and their teacher is played by Patrick Boucheron, a historian whose co-edited book A Global History of France (2017) looks at French history from a decentralised perspective. Without wishing to be reductive, would you say that’s also the lesson of your film? Yes it is. In fact, it is the only thing that I didn’t write. There’s no improvisation in the film, not even between the young girls, except the history lesson. He is a very famous historian in France, and I wanted him. It’s like an invitation: ‘I give you time, and you talk. ’ It was the first thing we shot, on a Monday at eight in the morning. It took, like, half an hour, because he knows the subject – three shots, and that’s it. And I gave him the subject – freedom and liberalism in the 19th century. That’s all I gave him. And the way he did the lesson, I could have said, ‘Okay, the film is finished. ’ Because everything is in that. It gives a light to the film. It’s not only the historical subject or political subject. When he says – I was really surprised by this – when he says, ‘How can we now tell a story in a continuous way or a discontinuous way? ’, it’s exactly what I did. Now we’re going even to experience exactly what Fanny’s going to do. I really like this scene, I think the guy is brilliant. I wanted to have this freedom in the film to take, at the beginning, six minutes. I know it’s tricky for the audience, because maybe some people die of boredom – but I’m the producer of the film, so I do what I want. You’ve said your film has two storylines, but I wonder if the former French slave colony of Saint-Domingue – which would later become Haiti – is your missing third storyline. Is it the ghost from the past that informs everything else that happens in the film? Yeah, I don’t want the film to have too much information. The scenes are quite simple, and when you put these scenes together, some more complex stuff arrives. For example, when the film was released in France, there was a lot of political commentaries that are not really said in the film, that are just underneath, they are purely from the underneath. That’s how I was wanting to do it. I said, Okay, I’m going to take a very popular figure, which is the zombie – even a pop culture figure – taking it back to its origin, which is not so famous, and by this movement, make a huge evocation of slavery and colonialism. That was really on purpose. In many ways, this is a film about white folly. Did you intend for Fanny’s story to dramatise and reflect your own anxieties as you were approaching this material? Yeah, because we had a lot of conversation during the writing with the producer Arte France about the character of Fanny. Is she like a bad girl? You know, she has money. Or is she just naïve? I don’t like when you make a character which is – not a good metaphor here, but – black or white. Things are more complex than that. And it’s quite complex. Of course there is something very naïve [about Fanny]. She feels possessed. She reads about voodoo ritual. It’s about possession. She goes, and she doesn’t realise. It’s not her own culture. The aunt tries to explain to her, and then she’s moved by her sorrow, because she’s so young. I like when things are not so clear. She [the aunt] should have stuck to her first answer: ‘No, it’s not a game. ’ But at the same time, she does it, you know. I don’t want to accept that I have to answer too clearly about the characters. I think it’s more complex than that. Schoolgirls Fanny and Mélissa initially bond in part over their shared taste in horror movies. Do you regard Zombi Child as a horror film, or as a corrective to the genre? Well, if there is some horror in the film, it’s mostly because it talks about slavery. After I play with the genre movies, whether the teen movie or the horror movie, I use it for doing something else. What’s next for you? I’m trying to – if I finance it, that’s always our obsession – I’m trying to do a melodramatic film, a big mélo in 1936, that includes some fantastic elements, some horror elements. Again I’m using the genre for something else, but its codes I really love. Zombi Child is available on MUBI UK, as part of a £9. 99 monthly subscription, until 17th November.

A man is brought back from the dead only to be sent to the living hell of the sugarcane fields. This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what’s now showing I don’t find Bonello cold. I find him alert, alive, and frequently inspired—if unexpectedly limited, at times. Zombi Child amounts to a curiously fragmented display of his talent. But much of the good stuff is here. If “Nocturama” was a glossy execution of a superficial conceit, “Zombi Child, ” the director’s new film, is a scintillating act of discretion — or, if you are disinclined to trust Bonello, of evasion. Really wished someone looked over the script and shooting beforehand. Very messy. Appreciated the theme nevertheless. Beginning in Haiti in the early sixties, Zombi Child" deals with voodoo and is one of the best and most poetic horror films in many a moon. It is obvious from the title and the setting that we are meant to think of a much earlier film with a similar setting but that would appear to be where the comparisons with Jacques Tourneur's "I Walked with a Zombie" ends for in the next scene we are in comtemporary France and a group of schoolgirls are being taught French history in a very white classroom.
What follows is a deliciously unsettling movie that manages to encompass the pains of teenage romance with a tale of the 'undead' as a metaphor for colonialism and it actually works. I can't think of too many examples in recent cinema where two opposing themes have been as beautifully united as they are here. In some ways it's closer to something like "The Neon Demon" or the recent remake of "Suspiria" than it is to Val Lewton. Here is a film with a creeping sense of dread, we've all seen films in which schoolgirls are not as sweet as they appear to be) and the grand guignol finale is as spooky as a good horror movie should be. It also confirms director Bertrand Bonello as one of the most exciting talents working anywhere today.

Je me dit wtf. Je me re-dis wtf.

Filme a vida invisivel. Very touching portrait of two sisters in Rio de Janeiro. In the world of men, they want to make their dreams come true. We have here one story about two lives. Very imporant movie which shows how lives of many women looked like in the early fifties. There is no hypocrisy here and the story itself drags us into their world.

Esse filme é incrível e o final te surpreende

A vida invisível rotten tomatoes. -Você faz as mesmas perguntas toda semana. Guida and Euidice are two sisters who could not be any more different. Euridice is tall, Guida is short. Euridice is focused, determined and working hard to become a professional pianist, Guida can't think about anything but boys. When a tragic incident separates them the girls are lost without each other but they never give up hope to meet again. A desperate search turns into a journey of a lifetime, when in fact the girls only live a few streets away from each other. will the sisters be able to reunite? And at what cost?
Based on a novel INVISIBLE LIFE offers a very typical plot for Brazilian cinema. Sisters separated by fate is a tagline straight from GLOBO tv channel soap operas that are so popular in Brazil. With a running time of 2h20min the pace is rather slow and the story takes its time to get going. Where the film succeeds is the atmosphere of the 40s Rio, with its walkways, restaurants, and its diminishing Portuguese middle class that can easily slip into extreme hardship and poverty.
Independent director Karim Ainouz is a Cannes darling but has never quite made it into the big league. This feels like a passion project for him and his love for Rio is obvious in every shot. Definitely not for everyone THE INVISIBLE LIFE is rich in emotion and atmosphere. Watch out for a small role from Brazilian acting royalty Fernando Montenegro. Her emotional gut wrenching cameo could be just the reason to see this overlong family saga.

I am bit fed up with the double standard that some autor-films are spoken about. The characters of the movies are 1-dimensional. Or they are infantile patriarchal men or innocent women in a victim role. I assume that that even in the 50's relationships were a bit more complex. The use of camera and music/sounddesign doesn't reach the level of an average student film. Everything was announced and explained, no subtleties, no room for contemplation. The undoubtedly talented actresses were the only point of light in these films. Unfortunately drowned in a plot that not in any moment is believable. When at the end the granddaughter is played clearly by the same actress as the main character the audience in the cinema where I was started to laugh. Couldn't more painfully indicate the state of unbelief in which this film had to be endured.

Powerful. Thank you. If any movie can induce PTSD or reduce one's expected lifespan simply by viewing it, this is that film. I am not usually in favor of restricting movie viewership, but this is one film that I cannot rightfully recommend to any person under the age of 18. If I had watched this film when I was 12, I would have either created some sort of psychological barrier and have been unable to fully comprehend the events taking place, or I would have been emotionally damaged for life. Possibly both. After viewing "Come and See" I am a changed man. Though it contains no graphic sex, outright gore, or extensive vulgarity, Come and See" is so powerful it's haunted me long after it ended. I've seen many horror movies (and even more war movies throughout my life, but no film I've ever seen even holds a candle to "Come and See" in terms of psychological trauma. I've heard stories about the horrors of the holocaust and of WWII, my grandfather was even in a concentration camp in Poland during the war- at the tender age of 14, about the same age as the main character in the film. I've read "Night" by Elie Wiesel, and I have seen "Schindler's List, and though I felt great sorrow for the pain of those who lived through such terrible ordeals, at the end of the day all of the stories I'd heard resonated with me as just that; stories (very real stories, but stories nonetheless. This was not the case with "Come and See." Klimov's brilliant directing style is somehow capable of pulling you in and making you feel absolutely helpless against the surrounding evils. Not just sorrow and remorse for the characters, but complete empathy for their pain in a way that is indescribable. "Schindler's List" might be hard to get through at times, but you still remain fully cognizant of the screen separating you from the death and suffering you see. "Come and See" destroys that protective mechanism. As an audience member, you have no feelings of "seeing" the film through a lens, but you "experience" it like you might experience the effects of a hallucinogenic substance that latches onto your brain and changes the very chemicals that determine the way you view the world- in a way I would imagine that is similar to an LSD trip gone horribly wrong. I now have even greater compassion for my grandfather's ordeals, and cannot imagine what I would have done were I in the same position as he. The film raises serious questions about whether or not it is truly "better" to survive a massacre than die in it. Even if you walk out of this film, it's too late. Closing your eyes, covering your ears; all attempts at ignorance are pointless -because "Come and See" goes past your vision and hearing- it penetrates your very consciousness. If you've seen enough to want to turn off the film, it's already too late and you've already felt the film's power. By the end of it, there is no way you'll ever look at war the same way again, and you'll likely remember this film and its lessons for years to come. Every single person considering joining the military, and every single person capable of voting should watch this film, because I guarantee it will cause you to deeply reconsider the choices that could easily send thousands of men into similar situations you see unfolding in "Come and See." Though I am always in favor of watching all great movies at least twice, and though "Come and See" is nothing less than great (if not spectacular) it is one film I dread watching a second time. Be sure to have a pack of cigarettes, black coffee, and/or a stiff drink ready in hand before viewing this film.

Why does this kids face looks so fake and weird looking. No need to apologize my friend. Thank you. Download Movie Idi i smotri. Pans labyrinth. Just dam. This film is truly beyond comprehension. It's undeniably, in my opinion, the most terrifying coming-of-age film ever made disguised as a war movie, and also one of the greatest achievements in all of cinema. Soul Brutha too booku”! Hahahaha. Its a survival movie as much as it is a war movie. It shows how war turns places of normal civilization into inhospitable wastelands.

RIP R Lee Ermey. 45:08 on 2x speed. When you eat Hiptang does your urine turn blue? Has this happened to anyone else? Asking for a friend. Wait, tropic thunder wasn't real ?lol. 2:58 no fair, u made it look like his bullet blew up the tank. That was uncalled for buddy.

Whats the name of that music ? 4:48. Come and See spoke to me in a much more personal way than I could have imagined. It reminded and brought attention to all of the atrocities that's taken place in the world, not just the Russian Jews, but every group of oppressed people. It spoke to me in a way that leaves me stunned and confused on how humans are allowed to be barbaric and how history continues to repeat itself in the present time. The film said to me that War is not to be glamorized and the human condition must not be ignored.
The emotional effect that the film had on me was more than I could imagine. Their where times in the film that I had brief moments of being in the movie. I was moved in a depressing way, but it was positive because, of my increased awareness.

This ensemble pushed the envelope of improvisation, exploring new and exciting styles of storytelling. A TFM performance was a full evening of long-form spontaneous theatre, as the troupe takes titles suggested by the audience and creates stories which move forward and backward in time, interweave and intersect, until the final resolution. Group critics call "collaborative narrative genius. " This was their website. Content is from the site's 2006 - 2007 archived pages and other outside sources. As of 2012 TFM was still performing. But where are they now? True Fiction Magazine continues to push the envelope of improvisation, exploring new and exciting styles of storytelling. A TFM performance is a full evening of spontaneous theatre, as the troupe takes titles suggested by the audience and creates stories which move forward and backward in time, interweave and intersect, until the final resolution. Of over 6, 000 stories told, they've never repeated one. Each show is unique: it has never been seen before and will never be seen again. TFM's inspiration is the hard-bitten, emotion-driven fiction found in the pulp stories of the 30's and 40's, tempered by their own comic sensibilities, resulting in a myriad of unusual characters and the worlds they live in. Outside of its home base in San Francisco, TFM enjoyed a lengthy, critically-acclaimed run in Los Angeles in 1997 and expanded its scope internationally, participating in a week-long theater festival in Tampere, Finland, performing two shows to capacity crowds at the city theater and conducting workshops in long-form improvisation with improvisors and actors from all over Scandinavia and northern Europe. to link to our review page, which includes an article from the Helsinki paper and a reviews from other well respected sources. ) In addition to its work in theaters, TFM is available for corporate and private parties and events. Past clients include Pacific Bell, the Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, and Treadwell & Rollo. The Company Diane Rachel (née Barry) started improvising in 1976 with a commedia del' arte troupe in Sterling Forest, NY. She has a BA in acting, and has performed in venues such as the Edmonton Fringe Festival, New York Theatresports Tournament, Seattle Bumbershoot Festival and HBO's Melrose Theatre in Los Angeles. Diane is an actor and a teacher of improvisation. She has been with the group that is now True Fiction Magazine for over seven years. Regina Saisi is an improvisor and actor. She has been seen at the Magic Theatre in their productions of "The Promise, " "Oscar and Bertha, " "Watch Your Back" and "Sirens. " She co-created and performed "Mysterious Ways, " a one-woman show, at the Phoenix Theatre. Over the past few years, Regina has been teaching improvisation to inner city youth. She has directed and performed with True FIction Magazine since its inception. Barbara Scott, a founding member of TFM, began improvising with street theatre in 1976, and has since performed (inside) with Screaming Memes Comedy, Femprov, Faultline, Comedy Underground, and Bay Area TheatreSports.. She toured the US with the Memes, and Europe with Pros From Dover. She's also an improv teacher with American Conservatory Theatre and Theatresports., a voiceover/ movie/commercial /trade show actor, can be seen wrangling a pit bull in Getting Even With Dad, and is on permanent video display at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, bravely wearing a dive suit. True Fiction Magazine includes special guest performers in each show. Regular guests include Paul Killam, Rafe Chase, Tim Orr, John Kovacevich, and Amos Glick. Regular Musicians include Joshua Raoul Brody and David Norfleet. REVIEWS September 3, 1997 12:00AM PT True Fiction Magazine The ensemble: Diane Barry, Rafe Chase, Paul Killam, Stephen Kearin, Reed Kirk Rahlmann, Regina Saisi, Barbara Scott. By Julio Martinez  / Variety The seven-member San Francisco-based improvisational theatre company, True Fiction Magazine, favors the longform of improv, utilizing an audience-suggested title as the starting-off point to create a series of interrelated scenes. Though they sometimes come up short in plot development, the troupe offers a cornucopia of engrossing, finely-detailed characterizations, aided immensely by the ever-present, intuitive keyboard effects of J. Raoul Brody. It is an immensely satisfying theatrical experience to watch the members of this company play off each other, never settling for the easy laugh and quick blackout. In fact, their style is very reminiscent of the “Harold” technique of improvisation that was developed back in the ’60s by another Bay area troupe, The Experimental Wing of the Committee. On a nearly bare stage, the ensemble utilizes, for instance, the audience-suggested title, “They Found It Lying In the Street, ” as the launching pad for a series of dramatic riffs that take up the whole 40-minute first act. A mysterious talisman containing some mystical gooey substance becomes an ongoing reference point as the plot moves through a series of transformations: a mystery novel, the deadly sexual games of a bored couple and a plumber (Regina Saisi, Reed Kirk Rahlmann and Rafe Chase), an Merchant Ivory-like look at the macabre relationship of two very proper British cousins (Barbara Scott and Stephen Kearin) and the outrageous adventures of Carl (Kearin), the world’s rudest theatre usher. Each member of the troupe is a gifted actor with a seemingly endless repertoire of well-rounded characters. Even if an improvised scene reaches a dead end, it is still rewarding to watch as the cast tries to resolve an increasingly murky plot situation. Paul Killam becomes a wonderfully tweedy British country gentleman, sputtering pompously, and Kearin always knows when to bring his “barking dog” into a scene just when the animal is needed. The second act starts on a low note as the ensemble completely bogs down with a lame slasher-film spoof. The work gets back on track with the re-appearance of the talisman to provide thematic stability, as many of the first act scenes are revisited and developed. Another highlight is the work of Diane Barry, who contorts herself into a grotesque statue ignored by the cast. No matter, whenever the attention shifts back to her scene, Barry goes right back into the statue. The effect is hilarious. Special mention must be made of the vocal improvising of Scott with the able support of keyboardist Brody. The pair are able to come up with very melodic theme or title songs at the drop of a line. (Hudson Theatre: 99 seats; $ 18 top) Production: The Hudson Group presents a play in two acts improvised by the ensemble. Music direction/keyboard, J. Raoul Brody. Lighting design, Lisa Larice; lighting improviser, Amy Weinberg. Opened and reviewed Aug. 28; runs until Oct. 14. Running time: 90 minutes. Creative: Lighting design, Lisa Larice; lighting improviser, Amy Weinberg. Running time: 90 minutes. Cast: The ensemble: Diane Barry, Rafe Chase, Paul Killam, Stephen Kearin, Reed Kirk Rahlmann, Regina Saisi, Barbara Scott. An aside: I attended the University of California - Berkeley in the early 1990's. I think that my friends and I probably saw just about all the True Fiction Magazine performances that were given. Each member of the troupe was a gifted actor. They seemed to have an repertoire of well-rounded characters at their finger tips. The guests that appeared in the skits were also outstanding. As college kids we thought we were so sophisticated and cool. Of course we became immersed in the pulp stories of the 30's and 40's as we soaked up each preformance. No almost twenty-five years later I am excited to have bought the original domain of the True Fiction Magazine and take it live once again. I wonder what happened to all those incredibly talented folks. I never would have anticipated the twists and turns of where I ended up, all these years later. Here I sit doing an online search for a comfortable round dog bed designs for my daughter's unusual dog, a New Guinea Singing Dog. A what I said when she told me about it. Once it was a wild breed in Papua New Guinea, but the breed is domesticated and has a reputation as an excellent companion for its intelligence and physical ability. The name, New Guinea singing Dog, is from the animal's unique vocalization. I found a great e commerce site that has "designer" fabric covered dog beds. The dog bed actually looks like a large floor pillow which I like. I've chosen a fabric that will coordinated with her livingroom decor. I still can't get over the brred of the dog. I wonder what type of skit, True Fiction Magazine would have done with a New Guinea Singing Dog as its reference point! Pulp Playhouse Turns Stuff of Bad Novels to Improvisational Comedy January 20, 1991|T. H. McCULLOH A squeaking door, a crash of thunder, gunshots, characters larger than life and tales of daring and fright--these were the stock in trade of the pulp magazines that proliferated during the 1930s, '40s and '50s. San Francisco's improvisational Pulp Playhouse is in town to help the adventurous return to those thrilling days of yesteryear and the cult world of pulp fiction. The group plays to packed houses in the Bay Area, improvising the purple prose of that bygone form, to the delight of repeat audience members who frequently arrive at the theater in costumes appropriate to the genre of the evening, much like the fans of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show. " "In San Francisco, the lobby was always full of people dressed up like us, " says O-Lan Jones, a founding member of Pulp Playhouse, who now makes Los Angeles home. "It was scary. They were aficionados. " In a conversation with actress Jones (look for her as the religious fanatic in "Edward Scissorhands") and Reed Kirk Rahlmann (author of humorous articles and also an actor), the cult image of Pulp Playhouse is strong. The group even seems a cult unto itself. Its members--director Brian Lohmann, Diane Barry, Rafe Chase, Jones, Rahlmann, Paul Killam, Regina Saisi and Barbara Scott--are nothing if not dedicated to the special form of their shows. Rahlmann and Jones are also quite vocal in their tribute to musical director J. Raoul Brody, lighting designer Chris (Sparky) French and the amazing vocal effects by Steve Kearin. They also improvise. Kearin, they both insist, can make almost any sound that the high-powered stories require, even "doors, keys in locks, " Rahlmann says. "He can actually make metal sounds with his mouth. A walking sound-effects room is what he is. " The group was founded almost three years ago by Lohmann, who came up with the production's hook--storytellers a la D. C. Comics' "Tales From the Crypt, " who guide the improvisers through their pulp parodies in genres that include, in their current evenings, horror, crime, romance and adventure. The company does have favorites. Rahlmann says, "We like doing horror a lot. Horror's big fun. You can play with it. It's so easy since we don't use any real props. You can make anything happen. " "Play" is an operative word for Jones and Rahlmann. "It's supreme fun--grown-ups playing the way you always wished your friends could play" when you were a kid, says Jones with the infectious laugh that's a hallmark of her conversation. "But it's such smart playing. People really enjoy the spirit of play. You don't see much of that in the world, play that isn't just goofing off, that has intelligence behind it. " "Everybody buys into it, too, " Rahlmann says. "You say, 'I'm the king. ' And everybody says, 'Hail, king. ' And you're the king for the life of the story. " When they are deep in the Western genre, he says, "here are grown-ups running around the stage shooting imaginary guns at each other and dying. " Jones' laugh cuts through the conversation again. "It's very sophisticated, " she says. Then, seriously, she says the group's audiences "know they have to partake in it. This is representational, and they have to help make up what's going on. In movies, people tend to think they're seeing reality because there are locations that are real, and the people are being real. " In fact, the group's play is quite serious work. On stage, Jones admits, "We almost go into an altered state, with the speed at which you're thinking and moving. Sometimes it feels as though the dialogue has a huge gap in it while someone is thinking. Then we play back the video, and there's no pause at all. You're so in touch with the other people. Your perception of time is so different; the way you're listening brings you up to a different speed. Suddenly someone will look at another actor and say, 'And then she said the thing that changed his life.... " "It's fun to throw curves like that, " Rahlmann says. "Our audiences love to see us getting each other in trouble. "Improv has always been thought of as an exercise for actors, " he says. "With us, it's an end in itself. And it's different every night, and it really is at the moment. It's taking one aspect of live theater, the immediacy and just amplifying it. It happens once. We like to keep the tightrope up high and know that it's really happening right there. " "You don't get that, " Jones says, "unless you're paying strict attention to what's going on. " Each of Pulp Playhouse's evenings is devoted to one genre of pulp fiction and includes eight stories developed out of that genre. The group has experimented with longer forms, but Rahlmann says: "There's an immediacy about telling a story in 10 minutes that's really appealing to an audience. It keeps the interest at a peak, and you get to see eight stories in one evening. It also allows for an exploration of the variations of the genre. " The Pulp Players also have their least favorite genre. Jones puckers her face in mock horror. "Espionage is a nightmare. The only thing we get from the audience is the title. There are all these red herrings and false leads, and if you're trying to connect all these leads, you go crazy! We know each other enough to find our way out of these labyrinths, but it's so iffy it's scary. You're determined to bring all those clues together. " "And we've got 20 loose ends! " Rahlmann adds. "And nobody's leaving until we fix it! " Jones laughs. She knows they always fix it.
